Texas LCSW Supervision & CG Counseling Clinical Supervision Services
I’m glad you made it to my page! I’m Ashten Gallagher, Ed.D., LCSW-S, BCD. I’m a council-approved supervisor in Texas, doctorally prepared in counseling, and board certified in clinical social work through the American Board of Clinical Social Work. My LCSW-S credential enables me to provide clinical social work supervision for license upgrade in Texas. My goal is to empower LMSWs in Texas by enhancing their careers through clinical supervision that’s affordable and accessible. Understanding supervision requirements is essential for your journey. So, what do you as an LMSW in Texas need to know about becoming a clinical social worker? Let me guide you through the process of obtaining your clinical social work license.
To upgrade to a clinical, unrestricted license, you’ll need to do the following as outlined by Title 22, Part 34, Chapter 781 of the Texas Administrative Code:
Step 1: Verify Job Eligibility & Clinical Hours Ensure your current or target employment qualifies as clinical social work under Texas BHEC guidelines (involving psychopathology, assessment, and treatment). If you are unsure, we will review your official job description together during your initial consultation. This ensures you gain the 3000 required clinical job hours to complete your 100 hours of clinical supervision (hopefully with me and my group!).
Step 2: Consultation & Supervision Agreement We will connect for a brief consultation to ensure our professional goals and clinical orientations align. Once approved, we will complete and sign the mandatory Texas BHEC Clinical Supervision Agreement form before any of your hours can officially begin accruing.
Step 3: Join Your Secure Virtual Cohort Log into our secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual platform for your bi-weekly group sessions. Cohorts are strictly capped at 4 to 6 members to ensure you get deep clinical case consultation, exam preparation support, and a tight-knit peer community from anywhere in Texas. You can complete your hours over as much time as you need. Texas BHEC recently removed the 4 year time limit! Due to the nature of virtual supervision, our program is able to serve you wherever you are. Join from Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, or wherever you are in Texas!
